This is the first article in a series written by Zach Blaue for The Prague Post. Studying under a Fulbright scholarship, Zach explored the hidden side of Prague, studying the architecture of its forgotten sites. In his first article, he writes about what lies beneath Letna Park.

Around the rest of the cavern, calcified stalactites of wastewater hang tentatively from the concrete ceilings. On the walls, grotesque graffiti characters flicker into sight under the flashlights’ beams, then fall away into darkness. The only sound is the muffled thunder of the Metronome’s ponderous machinery above, and the only illumination beyond our meager flashlight beams is from the open doorway, now a tiny square of white, far in the distance. The black vastness of the space is overwhelming.

Please tell me this is true!! This has to be one of my all time favorite movies and I think the premise sounds awesome:

The prequel would be set earlier in that same summer, and part of the joke would be that the cast who was ten years too old to be playing their parts would now be playing younger versions of those same roles, but this time be twenty years too old.

I hope the talking can of beans makes an appearance.

In Albania, the Kanun, a set of laws developed in the 15th century and still used today, promotes the practice of eye for an eye through a provision that deals with blood fueds. Thousands of Albanian men are forced to remain indoors out of fear of having revenge enacted upon them for a crime a relative has committed.

By tradition, any man old enough to wield a hunting rifle is considered a fair target for vengeance, making 17 male members of Christian’s family vulnerable. They, too, are stuck in their homes. The sole restriction is that the boundaries of the family home must not be breached. Women and children also have immunity, though some, like Christian, who physically matured at an early age, begin their confinement as boys. Family members of the victim are usually the avengers, though some families outsource the killing to professional contract killers.

I think we’ve reached a new low as a country when we decide to hold prayer vigils at gas stations to pray for lower gas prices. It’s unbearably frustrating to see people resort to these measures when the solution has been starring us in the face for years. Maybe think about cutting down on your personal fuel consumption and thereby lowering our country’s demand for oil. God isn’t going to make gas cheap again, people. It’s time to pull our heads out of our asses.
